1. Let’s Crack National Curriculum 2014.

The National Curriculum Consultation ended on Tuesday 16th April 2013.  The Programme of Study for Physical Education for key stages 1-4 will be developed so that it is available to schools who wish to dis-apply from the current requirements for September 2013.  It will be available to all schools from September 2014.  This course will focus on compliance; developing a curriculum that meets all learners needs; and raising standards.

2. Let’s Crack Ofsted: The New Ofsted Framework – It’s all about Teaching.

The course will:

  • explore the new Ofsted framework
  • identify what is required – specifically related to physical education
  • help you to become outstanding
  • use lesson videos for observation
  • allow you to develop ideas and strategy to develop your own practice
  • prioritise action

This course is suitable for Primary and Secondary teachers and teachers from all subject disciplines.

The course tutor is Steve Caldecott who is a trained Ofsted Inspector for the current 2013 framework

3. Let’s Crack Assessment: Assessment for Learning in Physical Education.

Ofsted (2012) have restated the importance of Assessment. This coupled with the criticism of current Assessment Practice by the expert panel as part of the 2014 National Curriculum proposals has indicated an overhaul of our approach to Assessment. In June 2012 Education Secretary Michael Gove announced that “…the current system of levels and level descriptors – which is confusing for parents and bureaucratic for teachers – will be removed and not replaced.” This course will ‘future proof’ assessment practice by focusing on principles which no matter the framework or criteria will remain accurate. Suitable for primary and secondary teachers of physical education.

The course will:

  • explore the  principles and effective practice of assessment
  • follow processes of assessment for learning without levels
  • analyse progress and attainment for outstanding achievement
  • share national curriculum 2014 updates

The course tutor is Andrew Frapwell (see CV)

4. Let’s Crack Safe Practice: A common sense approach to Safe Practice in Physical Education

The course focuses on three main areas which include: Establishing a positive attitude towards safe practice/risk management; the legal requirements placed on school staff; and relating safe practice to good teaching and good organisation. Suitable for primary and secondary teachers of physical education.

5. Let’s Crack Examinations

The course seeks to enhance student learning (and therefore grades) by reviewing and developing practice in three essential areas: Making learning real & meaningful (authentic); Promoting Active Learning (cognitive processes); Learning by doing (Theory through practical).

6. Let’s Crack PE and School Sport Premium

As a result of the government’s recent announcement, PE & School Sport funding now joins the Pupil Premium in how we are accountable for spending the money.

What does it mean in a nutshell?:

  1. Schools are required to publish information on the school website by September 2013 re how the monies are spent with details of their:
    1. Sport provision
    2. Curriculum PE details
    3. Revised inspection requirements will hold schools accountable for:
      1. improvements to PE and School Sport provision
      2. how PE and sport (improvements) will be assessed

7. National Pilot – Residential

The two-day residential courses are to allow schools who wish to follow the National Curriculum one year early from September 2013 time to plan.  Schools that attend and already have an Ofsted rating of good will become part of a national case study.  The course will include reference to effective curriculum design, the PE programme of study and assessment as a key driver to evolving bespoke curriculum and teaching and learning to meet learner’s needs.

Included in the price is all food, accommodation and training resources (breakfast lunch & dinner day 1; & breakfast and lunch day 2; plus overnight accommodation)*

* If local and overnight accommodation in the nearby Holiday Inn Express is not required then £55 will be deducted from the overall rate of £329+vat
